BusinessOS · Sales Excellence

Build the operating model that makes good sales execution repeatable.

Sales Excellence is not a training calendar or a dashboard. It is the operating system that connects sales process, coverage, roles, manager routines, coaching, incentives and performance governance so the organisation can execute consistently.

The model

Sales Excellence turns strategy into weekly management behaviour.

A strong sales strategy can still fail if the operating model around it is inconsistent. The practical work is to define what good execution looks like at salesperson, manager and leadership levels, then reinforce it through routines and measures.

The model should be explicit enough that teams understand how to sell, managers know what to inspect and coach, and leaders can distinguish a market problem from an execution problem.

Six components

What belongs in a Sales Excellence operating model

01

Sales process

Stages, qualification, activities, exit criteria, handoffs and evidence that define how an opportunity should move.

02

Coverage and roles

Territories, account ownership, channel roles, spans of control and decision rights that allocate effort against opportunity.

03

Manager operating rhythm

One-to-ones, pipeline reviews, forecast reviews, field coaching and performance conversations with clear purpose and cadence.

04

Performance system

KPIs, targets, productivity measures and dashboards that separate activity, pipeline quality and business outcomes.

05

Incentives and consequences

Incentive rules, recognition and corrective action aligned to the commercial outcomes the business actually values.

06

Capability and improvement

Onboarding, coaching, playbooks and structured improvement so the system becomes stronger as market conditions change.

Management design

Define what each management layer owns.

Connected work

Sales Excellence sits inside the wider sales system.

When the change spans process, CRM, governance and adoption, see Sales Transformation.

When the sales process must be configured into technology, see CRM & Revenue Operations.

For pricing, incentives, margin and broader commercial governance, see Commercial Excellence.

Focused first step

Start with one operating-model question.

The Sales & CRM Health Check can isolate one issue—sales-process leakage, CRM requirements, distributor health or city expansion—before a wider change programme is scoped.

Make the sales system easier to run, inspect and improve.

Start with the operating behaviours that matter most in your business.
